About This Course

"Marine Mammals of Coastal B.C" is an enrichment resource for our free, online Whale-Safe Boating Course.

It provides additional detail about the marine mammals commonly found near coastal B.C.

Please note that being a Whale-Safe Boater does not require the level of species identification in the enrichment resource. However, learning more can deepen understanding and appreciation of the animals and increase the potential for conservation actions.

This enrichment resource also includes details about endangered marine megafauna like Basking Sharks and Leatherback Turtles.

Over 30 marine mammal species are in B.C. waters

Learn more about the common coastal species to increase appreciation and understanding of these animals, and the potential for conservation.
